Wilbur “Will” W. Goudreau, Jr., age 86, of Sylvania, Ohio, formerly a longtime resident of Northville, passed away peacefully August 19, 2025.
Will is survived by his loving daughters, Carol Goudreau, Roxanne (Jeffrey) Fesko, and Angela (Ryan) Terry; his grandchildren, Amanda (fiancé Collin Puckett) Fesko, Christian (Emily) Fesko, and Cassie Fesko; and his great grandson, George Fesko. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Goudreau; his son, Robert Goudreau; his parents, Wilbur and Nellie Goudreau; and his siblings, Peter Goudreau, Mary Salter, and Rita Goudreau.
He was born July 7, 1939 in Rexton, Michigan; son of Wilbur and Nellie (Bennett) Goudreau. Wilbur, known affectionately as “Pudd“ in his hometown, grew up in Rexton and graduated from La Salle High School in St. Ignace with the Class of 1957. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Detroit and continued his education at University of Detroit. While working full time, he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and served as his fraternity’s president. Will was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Kathleen Crouch on March 8, 1958; they spent 51 years lovingly devoted to one another until her death on June 13, 2009.
Will dedicated most of his career to Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, where he worked for many years as an accountant and controller until his retirement in the early 1990s. In 1981, he and his wife established a successful office supply business, where he managed the bookkeeping in the evenings from home and personally delivered orders to local customers.
Earlier in life, Will enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and playing racquetball. Though a hardworking man with little free time, he was dedicated to giving back, serving as President of the Redford Jaycees, volunteering with Junior Achievement, and holding the role of elder in the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Will kept his mind sharp with crossword puzzles and was a skilled and competitive cribbage and euchre player.
In his quiet moments, he enjoyed following the news and stock market, watching football and baseball, and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune. He especially loved gathering with family and friends, hosting euchre and pool parties, and celebrating holidays, which always included his signature Grasshopper cocktail.
Family was at the heart of Will’s life. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, recently keeping in touch through FaceTime. Meeting his great-grandson, George, brought him tremendous joy and a big smile to his face. He also delighted in visits filled with homemade meals and sweet treats lovingly shared by his family. Will was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend whose will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care he received in Texas and to the dedicated staff at Otterbein Sunset Village in Sylvania.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Mr. Goudreau will be laid to rest with his wife and son at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
