Virginia Fay Reeves

August 20, 1935 — January 24, 2026

Virginia Fay Reeves, age 90, of New Hudson, formerly a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on January 24, 2026. She was born on August 20, 1935 in Boydsville, Arkansas; daughter of Orval and Oneeda (Wilson) Bolton. She was united in marriage to Howard N. L. Reeves on December 31, 1954; they spent 61 years together until his death on November 9, 2016.

Fay graduated from Lowrey High School in Dearborn with the class of 1954. She attended Plymouth School of Beauty where she earned her cosmetology license and diploma on February 10, 1971. While she never practiced the trade, she kept her license current over the years.

Fay spent many years working at the Northville A&P grocery store, where she became a familiar and beloved presence in the community until she retired April 6, 1991. With her signature beehive hairstyle, she was instantly recognizable and delighted in chatting with customers, brightening their days with her friendly conversation.

Fay was deeply faithful and attended church services regularly throughout her life. In her later years, she continued this devotion by attending Sunday services at Abbey Park, where she resided.

Fay was very social and truly loved living at Abbey Park, where she embraced all that the community had to offer. She spent many happy days with her best friend, Sally, sharing jokes and taking part in activities together. Fay especially enjoyed the Wii Bowling League, where she proudly took first place, along with bingo games and listening to the piano players. Always eager for adventure, she happily joined excursions, including visits to Michigan Central Station in Detroit and Kensington Metro Park.

Always excited to be out and about with friends and family, Fay found great joy in parades, fireworks displays, summer boat rides, and attending concerts. A devoted Detroit Lions fan, attending a game was one of the highlights of her life. Fay also had a deep love for classic cars and made an annual tradition of celebrating her birthday at the Woodward Dream Cruise. She enjoyed traveling and was always happy to tag along on an adventure, visiting roughly of the 50 states, including Florida, Tennessee, Nevada, California, and Arizona.

Fay kept her mind sharp by completing crossword puzzles each day and had a strong interest in genealogy. She was a longtime member of the Northville Genealogical Society and proudly traced her family heritage back to the 1700s and 1800s. Fascinated by local history, she loved driving around the area and sharing stories from her life and the community with those she loved.

At the heart of Fay’s world was her family. She was always happy to host the holidays and enjoyed social gatherings of any kind with family and friends. Fay was a deeply supportive mother and grandmother, faithfully attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities over the years. Her grandchildren were truly her pride and joy. Fay will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
