Ronald R. Lane, age 65, a lifetime resident of Northville, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on June 27, 2025. He was born on September 26, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of Richard and Eileen (Schoch) Lane. Ron and Mary Fisher were united in marriage on September 29, 1990, sharing over 34 years of marriage and a loving partnership that spanned 44 years.
He graduated from Northville High School with the Class of 1978. Shortly after, he made a life-changing decision—joining the Northville Township Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. Ron began working as a mechanic at Cal’s Car Care and also served as a security guard at Mt. Carmel in Detroit. All the while, he remained focused on his true passion—firefighting. That dream became a reality when he was hired full-time by Northville Township on January 2, 1990. Firefighting was more than a career; it was his calling. Ron served with dedication for 31 years, ultimately retiring as a Lieutenant in 2009.
From a young age, Ron enjoyed working with his hands, often learning alongside his dad as they tackled projects together—even building a boat. That early bond sparked a lifelong interest in fixing and creating. He had a passion for motorcycles, riding them throughout his life and spending hours tinkering in the garage. He liked watching drag racing for the thrills. Always inventive, Ron came up with countless ideas and gadgets to make everyday life easier.
Ron gravitated toward exciting, adventurous hobbies like waterskiing, boating, and snowmobiling, often spending time at the family cottage on Long Lake in Alpena. He also enjoyed hunting both deer and small game and was a proud member of the NRA. A fan of the occasional casino trip, Ron even made his way to Las Vegas a time or two.
His love for firefighting carried over into many aspects of his life, including the names of his beloved dogs, who were more like his children. He cherished their companionship and the unconditional love they gave him. Ron will be remembered not only as a hardworking, dedicated fireman but also as a devoted husband, loving brother, proud uncle, and loyal friend.
Ron is survived by his wife Mary; his sister Rhonda (Leonard) Elias; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Diana) Fisher and Fred (Renee) Fisher; his nieces and nephew, Maria Parvu, Victoria (Justin) Arnett, Tyler (Alexandria) Elias, Megan Elias, and Katie Fisher; his great nieces and nephew, Emma, Olivia, Hunter, Jacob, and Penelope; and his cherished dog, L.T. He was preceded in death by his parents.
