Robert L. Higbee

Robert Lewis Higbee II, age 82, of Roscommon, passed away on August 9, 2026. Born on April 22, 1944, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, he was the son of Robert and Eileen (Peters) Higbee. Bob married Judith J. Gall on June 22, 1968, after a six-year courtship and a mutual agreement that diplomas would come before “I do.” It proved to be worth the wait. For the next 58 years, Bob and Judy were true soulmates; partners who shared mutual respect and love, adventures, weathered the challenges, and enjoyed the life they built together.

To his family, he was always known as Rob; somewhere along the way at school, he became Bob to his friends. This distinction remained with him throughout his life. Bob graduated from Mt. Clemens High School with the Class of 1962. He went on to attend Port Huron Junior College before transferring to Eastern Michigan University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education.

Bob was such a bright light; not only to Judy and his family, but to everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. His love for others was genuine, and you felt it simply by being in his presence. He had a way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. We will miss his fun-loving spirit, his hearty laughter, that wonderful bright, rosy-cheeked smile, and perhaps most of all, his supportive and listening ear. Bob had a gift for being present with people. He listened without judgment, offered encouragement when it was needed, and brought a positive energy that made life feel a little lighter.

Bob is now a part of all of us. The love, kindness, and goodness he gave so freely did not leave with him; it lives on in the people who loved him and in the countless lives he touched. We can honor him by continuing his legacy through simple acts of kindness, share positive energy, be considerate to others, lend a listening ear, and care for the natural world that meant so much to him. There will always be places that bring Bob immediately back to us; bodies of water will forever remind us of Bob. Their peacefulness, beauty, and quiet energy so perfectly reflecting the way he lived and the places where he felt most at home. When we find ourselves near the water, hear a hearty laugh; offer kindness to a stranger, or simply take the time to truly listen to someone, we will feel a little piece of Bob with us. His light was a gift to all of us, and it will continue to shine through the way we choose to live and love one another.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his siblings, Daniel Higbee and his wife, Charla; Timothy Higbee and his wife, Kathy Zvanovec; Jon Higbee and his wife, Maribeth; Nancy Perkins and her husband, Donny; and Susan Londos and her husband, Tom. He is also survived by Judy’s family, whom Bob embraced with love and considered part of his own, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. He will be laid to rest at Hamer Township Cemetery in Hamer Township, Ohio.
