Richard S. Poole passed away, peacefully, on the 30th of December 2025, at the age of 73. Born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan, he was the youngest and only boy among six sisters. A proud Fordson Tractor, he often shared stories of the “good old days” in the neighborhood and summers at Camp Dearborn.
Rich is survived by his three daughters, Lauren Romeo, Melissa LeMieux, and Jessica Poole, their loving families, including four beautiful grandchildren, and his former wife, Mary Poole — as well as three sisters and a community full of stories, laughter, and memories that will live on long after last call.
He deeply loved his daughters, who were the greatest pride and joy of his life, and often spoke of them as his most meaningful legacy.
A larger-than-life presence, Rich spent 30 years in industrial sales and leadership, as well as serving as the longtime owner of Poole’s Tavern, a family place that became less of a bar and more of a second home for many in the community. If you spent any time there, chances are Richie poured you a drink, told you a story, or pulled you into a conversation you didn’t expect — but won’t ever forget.
He cruised through town in a black Cadillac, Sinatra on the stereo — because if there was ever a theme song for Richie Poole, it was “My Way,” a soundtrack for a man who followed his own compass and never looked back.
He often said, “If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch,” and he spent very little time on the porch.
Richard had a deep appreciation for the things that stirred his sense of freedom and beauty. He loved antique cars and was especially fond of the open road. Big Sur, California, held a special place in his heart — a landscape that matched his love of grandeur and drama.
He was a true sports enthusiast, known for his unwavering and often tested loyalty to the Detroit Lions. A dedicated fan of motorsports, Richie rarely missed a race day, drawn to the speed and spectacle of Formula One and NASCAR.
A private gathering will be held. In true Richie fashion, the family encourages you to raise a glass, play a little Sinatra, and remember him your way.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Northville’s Main Street League. Support | Main Street League mainstreetleague@gmail.com
