Meredith L. Friedman

Meredith L. Friedman, of Northville, passed away on July 28, 2023 after a lengthy, courageous cancer battle.  She was born on November 6, 1948 in Sharon, Pennsylvania; daughter of William and Rose (Meredith) Wachter. Meredith was united in marriage to Leonard S. Friedman on June 10, 1978; they spent 45 years lovingly devoted to one another.

Meredith graduated from Farrell High School in Farrell, Pennsylvania, in the class of 1966. She continued her education at Youngstown State University in Ohio where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. After graduation, Meredith began a short career teaching high school English before deciding to work in the mortgage industry. In 1979 she began a career working as a mortgage banker, she retired in 2008.

Meredith’s favorite hobbies were making jewelry and travelling. She was an active member of the Northville Women’s Club where she served as the Chairwoman of the Scholarship Committee. Meredith was quite interested in Astronomy and Geology. Studying the stars and learning the history of the earth through rocks fascinated her. Meredith was an amazing woman who fought so many battles over the years with strength and grace. She will be deeply missed.

Meredith is survived by her loving husband, Leonard Friedman; her sister-in-law Mary (Dr. Michael) Slattery; her niece Elizabeth (Tony Bishop) Slattery Bishop; and her great nieces, Chloe and Savannah.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother William H. Wachter.

Memorial visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 10am until 11:30 am with a celebration of life service beginning at 11:30am at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville, Michigan 48167.
