Mary S. Watson

Mary S. Watson, age 80, of Novi, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026. She was born on July 20, 1946, in Dearborn, Michigan, the daughter of Roy and Jennie (Robinson) Marz. Mary grew up in Northville and was a proud 1964 graduate of Northville High School.

On September 18, 1965, Mary was united in marriage to Harry Watson. Together, they shared more than 43 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on March 21, 2009. Mary and Harry made Novi their home, where they raised their family and built a life filled with love, hard work, family traditions, and lasting friendships.

Mary worked alongside Harry at Godmar Rexall Drugs in Farmington, where they owned and operated the drugstore throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Mary managed the day-to-day operations while Harry served as the pharmacist. In true family-business fashion, their boys grew up helping at the store, making the business a special part of their family life.

After selling the drugstore, Mary began a career as an executive assistant at Detroit Federal Savings & Loan, later Metro Bank, and ultimately retired in 2010 from Sandler and Travis Trade Advisory Services. She was a dedicated and hardworking professional known for her exceptional organizational skills and dependability. Retirement did not slow Mary down. Friends in the Country Place Condo Association often saw her working around the pool and clubhouse, always willing to lend a hand and contribute to her community.

Mary loved Christmas and took great joy in creating beautifully decorated Christmas trees and filling her home with the warmth and magic of the holiday season. She enjoyed crafting, especially making silk flower arrangements that brought beauty and brightness into her home. Mary also loved shopping and going out to lunch with friends and family, always enjoying the opportunity to spend time with those she cared about. Mary had an amazing floral garden and truly had a green thumb. Her garden was a reflection of the love and care she put into everything she did, and everyone knew which house Mary lived in because of the beautiful flowers that surrounded it.

Above all, Mary treasured her family. She loved having her grandchildren over for sleepovers and cherished every moment they spent together. She was their biggest supporter, attending their sporting events, theater productions, school activities, and celebrating every achievement, big or small. Her grandchildren always knew she would be there cheering them on. Mary was a loving, caring, and selfless mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She gave generously of her time, her talents, and her heart. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, generosity, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Julie) Watson and Brian (Moira) Watson; her siblings, Jim Pate, Peggy Allan, and Phyllis (Terry) Fraser; and her grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan, Emily, Tyler, and Dylan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Mary will be laid to rest at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi.
