Lisa M. MacDonald

August 18, 1962 — November 19, 2025

Lisa M. MacDonald, age 63, of Wixom, formerly of Saline, passed away November 19, 2025. She was born on August 18, 1962 in Wayne, MI; daughter of Richard Marrone and Elaine (Berjeski) Horwath. Lisa was united in marriage to Shawn M. MacDonald on June 7, 1992 and they spent 33 years lovingly devoted to one another.

Lisa graduated from Northville High School with the class of 1980. She continued her education at Oakland Community College where she earned an associate’s degree in business administration. Lisa began her long and successful banking career as a teller and went on to spend more than 35 years in the industry. Throughout her career, she worked for several institutions, including Ann Arbor Commerce Bank and KeyBank, serving as a loan officer and in private business banking. She retired in 2020 as a bank manager with NorthStar Bank in Ann Arbor.

Lisa enjoyed shopping, often thinking of others as she did and returning with a thoughtful gift to brighten their day. Her favorite store was Home Goods, and she had a natural talent for interior design. Lisa loved helping family members refresh and re-imagine their homes. She appreciated good food and took pleasure in hosting and entertaining those she loved. A loyal Detroit Tigers fan, Lisa enjoyed attending games and cheering on her team, whether at the ballpark or from home.

Lisa was deeply selfless, giving her time as a volunteer with the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor and as a participant in Leadership A2/Y. As an organ recipient, she understood firsthand the life-changing impact of donation and dedicated herself to supporting Gift of Life Michigan, often sharing her own story to inspire and educate others. Her deep faith was a constant source of comfort and strength, sustaining her through even the most difficult moments. Despite the many health challenges she faced, Lisa never once complained and faced each day as a blessing. Lisa loved life and had a remarkable way of bringing joy to everyone she met. She treasured time with her family and friends, touching countless lives with her warmth and generosity. A natural caregiver, she consistently put others before herself and was a source of support to anyone in need.

Lisa’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her beloved son Ian, whom she considered her greatest gift. She was endlessly supportive and embraced her role as a baseball mom with pride, always ready for a ride to practice and cheering from the sidelines at every game. Lisa was also the cherished “favorite aunt,” adoring her nieces and nephews and celebrating each of them with her whole heart. Lisa will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought into every room she entered. The memories she created and the love she shared will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.

Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Shawn MacDonald; her son, Ian MacDonald; her mother, Elaine Horwath; her mother-in-law, Bee MacDonald; her siblings, Rick (Keri Zakocs) Marrone, Kathy (Tim) Marshall, Steve (Brenda) Marrone, and Kris Zwemer; her brothers-in-law, Chuck Zwemer, Mark (Caryn) MacDonald, and Darryl (Debbie) MacDonald; her sister-in-law, Michele MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Marrone; her father-in-law, Angus MacDonald; and her stepfather, Ken Horwath.

There will be a Celebration of Life held in the Spring of 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Gift of Life Michigan, 3861 Research Park Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
