Gregory A. Todd, age 79, longtime resident of Novi, passed away on February 25, 2026. He was born on March 4, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, son of Jed and Eleanor (Tarolli) Todd. He was united in marriage to Linda Larsen on July 11, 1970 and they spent 55 years lovingly devoted to one another.
Greg graduated from Dearborn High School with the Class of 1964, where he lettered in long-distance running. He went on to attend Eastern Michigan University, earning a bachelor’s degree in earth sciences. Greg and his wife later made history as the first couple to complete the master’s program in biology at the university.
Greg dedicated more than 33 years to education as a science teacher at Stevenson Jr. High and John Glenn High School in the Wayne-Westland School District. Working just down the hall from his wife, a chemistry teacher, Greg was deeply beloved by his students. His genuine love for people and wonderful sense of humor made him one of the school’s favorite teachers. Students were always quick to come to his defense whenever his wife teased him during the school day which was a testament to the affection and respect he inspired.
Greg enjoyed biking and taking long-distance road trips. An avid golfer, he loved playing different courses with friends. Greg was also a talented pool player and took great pride in teaching his daughters the art of the game.
A passionate traveler, he journeyed around the world and enjoyed taking multiple cruises over the years. Among his most cherished bucket-list adventures were visits to the Galápagos Islands and Machu Picchu. Greg had a lifelong fondness for vintage cars and, over the years, proudly owned a GTO, a Mustang, and a ’65 Nova. One of his favorites was his orange Camaro, a car that brought him particular joy. Each fall, Greg and his wife set aside a couple of weeks for open-ended road trips with no agenda or reservations, just the two of them, embracing the freedom of the open road and seeing where it led.
Greg was a talented wood craftsman and woodworker who took great pride in creating beautiful pieces for family and friends. He handcrafted jewelry boxes for his daughters, along with chess boards, tables, and many other items, even lending his skills to help his wife prepare pieces for craft shows. Strong and hardworking, Greg enjoyed staying busy around the house and yard, no task was too small or too unexpected, including ironing. He was also a serious reader, especially fond of novels by Tom Clancy and Lee Child. Greg kept his mind sharp by completing Sudoku puzzles and tackling The New York Times crossword, always done in pen.
Greg lived life to the fullest and believed in making the most of every day. He followed his own path, doing what made him happiest, sometimes including a good beer along the way. He loved dogs and had a special fondness for the Bouvier breed. Above all else, Greg’s greatest joy was his family. He loved them deeply, cared for each of them, and never missed a chance to show it. He doted on his family and had a special, immeasurable love for his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Greg will live on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. Though he will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved him are grateful for the many memories that will forever remain in their hearts.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Linda Todd; his daughters, Katrina (Michael) Johnson and Courtney (Derek) Klein; his grandchildren, Henry, Nora, Lucia, Kaia, and Bodhi; his sister, Lynann Gerber; his sister-in-law, Janice (Jeff) Stuber; and his brother-in-law, Gary (Heather) Larsen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Brian Todd.
A Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
