Georgette E. Haiman
Age 94, of Novi, formerly of Northville and Rancho Mirage, CA, passed away on January 26, 2020. She was born the youngest of 11 on April 7, 1925 in Antony, France, daughter of Abel and Marie-Francoise (nee Pulloche) Baert. She was united in marriage to Irving Haiman.
Georgette earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in French from Wayne State University. She continued her education and completed all the schooling for a doctorate but did not write her thesis. Georgette worked as a French teacher at Wayne State University for many years.
Georgette was very talented at the artistry of embroidery, needlework, and knitting. She was very intelligent and always expanding her knowledge. Her favorite subject was linguistics and learning the root source of words. Georgette was proficient in many languages including French, Spanish, and Portuguese. She was recently taking an advanced German class with her son. She enjoyed music and dancing. Georgette adored cats and had many feline companions throughout the years. She loved her son tremendously and cherished the time they spent together.
Georgette is survived by her son Jean-Francois “Jack” Sanders. She will be missed by many friends in the Northville and Novi area. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and 10 siblings.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with a time of gathering beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions to American Cancer Society , 20450 Civic Center Dr., Southfield, MI 48076.
