Frederick R. “Dick” Duwel, age 84, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on June 1, 2026. He was born on January 20, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio; son of Frederick and Mary (Reardon) Duwel. Dick was united in marriage to Patricia (Jones) Duwel on August 28, 1965; they spent 59 years lovingly devoted to one another until her death on May 5, 2025.
Dick graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1960, and he pursued his interest in architecture at the University of Detroit. His distinguished career included positions as the Chief Architect for Ford Motor Company, as a partner in a very successful local commercial design and construction management firm, and as owner of his own commercial construction company that, among other projects, managed the most recent re-development of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School & Church – where he has been a longtime parishioner.
Dick is survived by his children, Mary (Charles) Albrecht, Jeff Duwel, and Ann (Matthew) Giese; his grandchildren, Alison Albrecht, Andrew Albrecht, Leah Giese, Graham Giese, and Aaron Giese; his sister, Margaret Bollin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Duwel; his parents; his siblings, Theresa Thiemann, Elaine Rolfes, Patty Nobis, Jerry Duwel, and Jane Grossheim.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., instate beginning 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville.
