Edward W. Skicki, age 87, of Northville, formerly a longtime resident of Plymouth Township, passed away on July 3, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Walter and Helen (Jasionowicz) Skicki. Edward was united in marriage to Leilani June Shoebridge on July 14, 1962, they were only married a short time before her death on October 3, 1967. He was fortunate to find love again with Constance L. Arjeski and the two were married on January 27, 1975; they spent 36 years devoted to one another until her death on February 9, 2011. For the past 14 years, Edward has shared a loving relationship with his longtime companion, Veronica Smith. They enjoyed spending time together and created many treasured memories over the years.
Edward grew up in Dearborn and was a proud graduate of Fordson High School with the Class of 1957. He continued his education at Henry Ford Community College where he earned an associates degree. Shortly after graduating, Edward began his long and successful career in sales when he accepted a position with Montgomery Ward. He later joined Sears at Livonia Mall, where he initially specialized in carpet sales before transferring to the Sears Outlet Center, selling furniture and appliances, retiring after more than 25 years with the company. Even after retiring, Edward enjoyed staying active and continued working in the parts department at Hines Park Lincoln in Plymouth.
Edward was a motorcycle enthusiast and was a member of the Michigan Retreads, a Suzuki motorcycle club. He loved the freedom of the open road and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with fellow club members, creating lasting friendships and unforgettable memories along the way. Edward enjoyed tinkering, whether repairing something around the house or spending time in his shed tackling a new project, he took pride in fixing things.
An avid bowler, Edward spent many years participating in recreational leagues. He was also a devoted sports fan who faithfully cheered on Michigan State basketball and the Detroit Tigers. Watching Tigers games from the comfort of home was one of his favorite pastimes, and each year he looked forward to celebrating his birthday with a trip to the ballpark to see them play.
Music was one of Edward's greatest passions. A talented musician, he played the guitar, violin, and organ, sharing his love of music with family and friends throughout his life. He also enjoyed singing and never passed up an opportunity to perform karaoke. During the time he lived in Arizona, Edward was a member of a local choir that delighted audiences by performing concerts in the park throughout the year. Above all, Edward cherished his family and the time they spent together. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, caring brother, uncle, and friend. Edward will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Edward is survived by his loving children, Kenneth Skicki, James (Randy Lauwassar) Skicki, Cheryl Toomey, Lisa (Charles Hill) Colwell, and Aaron (Lisa Judd) Colwell; his companion, Veronica Smith; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Emily), Ellyn, Matthew (Jessica), Andrew, Chase (Jaquelyn), Miles, Oscar, Bailey, William, David, Sean (Taylor), Kasey (Samantha), and Kaitlynn; his great grandchildren, Lilly, Jackson, and Georgia; his brothers, Richard (Chris) Skicki and Gerald Skicki; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Arjeski; his first wife Leilani Shoebridge; his parents; his brother, Daniel Skicki; his sister, Loraine Skicki; his sister-in-law, Barbara Skicki; his grandson, Steven; and his nephews, Michael Skicki and David Skicki.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Mr. Skicki will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield following the funeral service.
