Charles G. Jackson, “Charlie” a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, accomplished academic, and multi-career professional, passed away on May 7th at the age of 93. A longtime resident of Northville, Michigan, Charlie was born on December 5, 1931, in the small town of Attapulgus, Georgia, to James and Josephine (Parham) Jackson. He grew up in a close-knit household with nine siblings, where he learned the value of hard work, humility, and perseverance—principles that would guide him throughout his life.
Charlie’s pursuit of knowledge and personal growth began early. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Georgia Southern College in 1952, where he was twice elected vice president of his class—a testament to his natural leadership and dedication. He went on to earn a master’s degree in education from Florida State University just a year later. These early academic achievements laid the foundation for a life marked by continuous learning, purpose, and service.
After working briefly as a principal, Charlie answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. Upon returning, he resumed his work in education before embarking on a distinguished 32-year career in finance with Ford Motor Credit Company in Dearborn, Michigan. Rising through the ranks to become Regional Operations Manager, Charlie was known for his keen insight, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. After retiring from Ford, he pursued yet another successful path as a real estate agent—proof of his boundless energy and lifelong curiosity.

He served on the board of his neighborhood association, always stepping up to take on more than was expected in order to improve the lives of those around him. Whether at work, in the community, or at home, Charlie brought a spirit of generosity and service to everything he did.
A passionate golfer, Charlie found joy and friendship on the fairways. He was a longtime member of the Ann Arbor Country Club, where he served in several leadership roles, including a term as president. Rain or shine, Charlie could be found out on the course, doing what he loved most—playing the game and enjoying the camaraderie that came with it.
Charlie will be remembered for his sharp wit, his endearing southern charm, and the colorful nicknames he bestowed upon friends and loved ones. He never met a stranger, and he had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued. His warmth, humor, and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Of all his accomplishments, Charlie was most proud of his family. He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Lorraine. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and cherished memories. He was a deeply devoted father and grandfather, always offering support, wisdom, and a ready smile.
Charlie considered himself a lucky man, and those who knew him would agree that they were the lucky ones. His was a life well-lived—rich in purpose, love, and legacy.
