Carole E. Miller

Carole E. Miller, age 83, a lifelong resident of Northville, passed away on July 7, 2026. She was born on October 7, 1942 in Northville, Michigan; daughter of Rolland and Violet (Johnson) Tabor. Carole was united in marriage to George H. Miller on December 29, 1967; they spent over 57 years together until his death on October 16, 2025.

Carole graduated from Northville High School with the Class of 1960. She continued her education at Western Michigan University, where she earned an associate degree in business administration, before enrolling at Michigan State University. Although she did not complete her studies at MSU, life led her in a different direction as she began her career as an administrative assistant, first with Burroughs and later with Ford Motor Company. Her years at Ford proved especially significant, as they brought two life-changing milestones: purchasing her beloved baby blue 1964 Ford Mustang convertible and meeting the love of her life, George H. Miller.

Carole and Geroge raised their family in Northville. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years. Once her children were older, she began working alongside her husband at his company, Miller’s Custom Bumping and Painting shop in downtown Northville. She maintained impeccable books for the business until she retired in 1994.

Carole was an avid reader who developed her love of books at a young age, spending countless hours at the library. She enjoyed a wide variety of books and book series, often becoming completely immersed in the stories she read.

As a Girl Scout, Carole learned valuable life and leadership skills that remained with her throughout her life. During her high school years, many may remember her friendly smile while she worked as a server at the Old Mill Restaurant.

While attending college, Carole embarked on a memorable European adventure with a few close friends, igniting a lifelong love of travel. She treasured time spent with her family, whether vacationing in Florida or relaxing at the family cottage in Tawas, creating memories that would last a lifetime. She delighted in collecting seashells along the beach and was always happy to share her treasured finds with others. One of her favorite memories was a dream vacation to Hawaii, where George surprised her with a trip for just the two of them.

Carole and George also enjoyed bowling together as teammates, and she loved to joke that she always bowled her best while she was pregnant. Being outdoors brought Carole great joy and peace. She found happiness tending her garden beds, watching the birds, or simply enjoying nature. An animal lover, she lovingly cared for the family dogs and enjoyed watching The Incredible Dr. Pol.

Carole also appreciated the challenge of crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, unwavering confidence, and genuine ability to connect with others. Fearless when speaking in public, Carole had a remarkable gift for making friends wherever she went and leaving everyone she met feeling welcomed.

Carole is survived by her loving children, George B. Miller and Lisa (Christopher Byrum) Mote; her brother Brian Tabor; and her grandchildren, Michael and Reagan Mote. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister-in-law Dellee Tabor.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of Carole’s life will be held Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Pastor Christopher Fairbairn from St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate the service. Carole will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
