Beverly A. Kahler, age 62, of Northville, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2026. She was born on August 10, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter of Donald E. and Marilyn H. (Kaising) Stockelman. On September 9, 1995, she married the love of her life, Alan K. Kahler, in a ceremony led by Bev's uncle, Bishop Jack Kaising. Together they shared more than 30 years of marriage built on love and care for one another.
She lived in Cincinnati until her sophomore year of high school, when her family relocated to Northville, Michigan. After graduating from Northville High School with the class of 1981, Bev began her career as an administrative assistant for an attorney in Southfield. Ready for a change, she took a position as a bartender at the Starting Gate in Northville, where she was well loved by customers and coworkers alike. When the Starting Gate closed, Bev joined Kroger in downtown Northville as a cashier. She took pride in her work and treasured the friendships she made along the way.
Bev found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially playing Monopoly on her phone and spending time with the people she loved. A true social butterfly, she had a gift for making friends wherever she went and delighted in giving them creative nicknames inspired by how they met or what they enjoyed together, such as "Fire Buddy" and "Bench Buddy." Summers were often spent at the "scottage" in Grass Lake, where a campfire was almost always burning and laughter was never in short supply. A devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Bev planned her schedule each year so she would never have to work during the Ohio State/Michigan game.
Bev was a former member of the Northville Eagles Club, where she proudly served on the Ladies Auxiliary Board. She also volunteered for Relay For Life, reflecting her generous spirit. Known for her loving heart, bubbly personality, and infectious sense of fun, Bev was the sister who kept everyone connected. Her only sister affectionately called her the "favorite" sister, a title Bev wore with pride. She adored her miniature schnauzer, Jack, whose unconditional love brought her endless happiness, an affection for the breed that extended to a cherished collection of schnauzer keepsakes.
Bev leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, friendship, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Bev is survived by her husband Alan; her stepchildren, Crystal (Will) Boje-Estes and Alan K. Kahler, Jr.; her siblings, Joyce Waller, Tony (Shannon) Stockelman, Nick Stockelman, and Chris"Fuzz" (Christine) Stockelman; her grandson Emmerich; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Andy Stockelman.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon, with a memorial service beginning at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Deacon Ric Misiak of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions in support of ALS at teamgleason.org.
