Arthur E. Forth II, age 78, of Boyne City, passed away on February 23, 2026. He was born on May 27, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to Arthur and Elizabeth (Swartz) Forth. Art met Sandra “Sandy” Parmenter in the third grade, and by the time they reached twelfth grade, they knew they would be together forever; he the high school football player, she, his cheerleader. They were married on January 25, 1969, and had just celebrated 57 years of marriage last month. Art deeply loved Sandy and was truly devoted to their life together and to their family.
Art grew up with his family in Northville, raised his own family in Farmington Hills, and later retired to Boyne City. He graduated from Northville High School with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, he attended Central Michigan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He continued his education at Wayne State University, earning a master’s degree in business with a focus on economics. Art was a dedicated and hardworking human resources professional with General Motors for more than 25 years. He took great pride in the cars they built and was a loyal GM driver throughout his life.
Art was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. He coached many of his sons’ youth sports teams, including basketball and baseball, always leading with patience and kindness. Through his example, he taught good sportsmanship, lessons that carried on through his children and grandchildren.
An avid outdoorsman, Art enjoyed hunting, boating, waterskiing, and snow skiing. He found enjoyment spending time with his wife at their hunting property spending countless hours surrounded by nature. His home in Boyne City served as a beloved vacation retreat on Lake Charlevoix, where he spent countless hours on the water. Its close proximity to Boyne Mountain allowed him to pursue his passion for snow skiing as well. He also cherished time spent golfing with friends.
Art had a deep interest in history, especially his own family’s history. He loved all his furry companions throughout his life but held a special place in his heart for Stanley and Snow. Art’s laughter could fill a room, and his sense of humor, compassion, and love will be dearly missed.
Art is survived by his wife Sandy; his sons, Ryan (Katey) Forth, Randy (Kristen) Forth, and Corey (Addra) Forth; his brother Jeffrey Forth; and his grandchildren, Preston, Brandon, Dylan, Kinsley, and Remington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carolyn Owen, and his brother Larry Forth.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap Street in Northville. Family and friends are warmly invited to come, remember Art, and share a favorite story or memory with those who loved him most.
