Anna D. Silvestri, age 89, of New Hudson, formerly a longtime resident of Novi, passed away on October 11, 2026. She was born on February 7, 1937, in Pacentro, Italy, daughter of Antonio and Secondina (Battaglini) Mancini. Anna was united in marriage to the love of her life, Antonio Silvestri, on July 5, 1958. Together, they shared over 52 years of marriage and devotion to one another until his passing on November 25, 2010.
Anna began her career in the meat department at Hiller’s Grocery Store in Northville. Through her hard work and dedication, she eventually became the manager of the entire department, a position she held until her retirement in 2006. Not one to sit idle, Anna decided to return to work part-time at Meijer in Wixom, where she continued working in the meat department. She enjoyed interacting with customers, answering their questions, and sharing her knowledge and helpful advice. Anna remained active in the workforce until 2019, when she retired for the second time at the age of 82.
Anna was a devoted member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church since 1973. She cherished attending Sunday Mass with her family, and her faith remained an important part of her life. Following the passing of her husband, when attending Mass became more difficult, Anna continued to support her church by donating the wine used for Communion.
If there was one word to describe what mattered most to Anna, it was family. They were her greatest passion and the center of her life. Proud of her Italian heritage, Anna loved bringing everyone together through her cooking, traditions, and celebrations. She enjoyed preparing large meals and hosting holidays and birthdays. An incredible cook, Anna passed down her treasured recipes to her sons, including homemade pasta and sauce, traditions they will carry on for generations to come.
She was also a wonderful baker, known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, pineapple cake, and cheesecake. Anna was always willing to help others and often prepared meals for special occasions or those in need. When she wasn't in the kitchen, she enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to her garden, trimming hedges, and mowing the lawn. Loving, generous, and open-minded, Anna always put those she loved first. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anna is survived by her sons, Joe (Josephine) Silvestri and Philip (Carrie) Silvestri; her sister, Victoria Capoccia; her brothers and sisters-in-laws, Giacinta Sanelli, Maria Silvestri, Maria Rubino, Elda Silvestri, Eleonora Cipollone, Larry and Barbara Silvestri; her grandchildren, Florianne (Kyle Martin) Silvestri, Joseph (Kate) Silvestri, and Sabrina (Seth Brauman) Silvestri-Brauman; and her great grandson, Heath Martin.
