Emma "Ruth" Kahler

July 4, 1929 — August 1, 2016

 Emma “Ruth” Kahler, age 87, longtime resident of Northville, passed away August 1, 2016.  She was born July 4, 1929 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee; daughter of Joseph and Rhoda Mae (Cummings) Seagraves.  Ruth was an incredibly hard worker; she began her 25 year career with Northville Downs working in concessions and later moving to the commissary office.  She then ran concessions at Meadowbrook Country Club, retiring after 20 years.   Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church of Novi, Northville Fraternal Order of Eagles 2504, and the American Legion Post 147.  She enjoyed cross stitch and doing crossword puzzles.  She was a Detroit Tiger fan.  Ruth was a wonderful woman who cherished time spent with family and absolutely adored her grandchildren.   Ruth is survived by her loving children, David (Lisa) Kahler, Robert Kahler, Alan (Bev) Kahler, John (Kathy) Kahler, and Carol (Patrick) McMahan; her grandchildren, Derek (Tish) Forbing, Debi Mitchell, Chris Kahler, Michelle (Tom) Phillips, Crystal Kahler, Bill (Heather) Kahler, Alan Kahler, Jr., Dan Kahler, Lily DeSantis, Phoebe Kahler, and Hannah Kahler; and her great grandchildren, Devon, Katie, James, Gavin, Abbey, Alex, Blake, Chase, Kristina, Rebecca, and Matthew.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband William Kahler, her son Michael Kahler and 7 brothers and sisters.  The visitation will be held Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  A funeral service will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  Pastor Jonathan Wilkes from First Baptist Church of Northville will officiate the service.  Mrs. Kahler will be laid to rest next to her son Michael at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.  The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Reverence Home Health and Hospice, 5445 Ali Dr., Grand Blanc, MI 48439.
