Dorothy M. Wakefield

Dorothy M. Wakefield Age 97, of Hartland, formerly of Dearborn, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2010.  She was born January 15, 1913 to Alfred and Mabel (Boynton) Fricker in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  Dorothy was united in marriage to Richard Wakefield on October 31, 1935 and they spent 50 years together until his death in 1985.  She retired as a Billing Supervisor with American Standard.  Dorothy was an avid exerciser; she participated in many of the fitness classes at the retirement community where she lived, and after tracking her accumulated miles, she had crossed the equivalent of Montana and several other states. She is survived by her loving son Robert (Margaret) Wakefield; her grandchildren Keri Wakefield, Shelia (Glenn) Brooking, and Michael Quirk; her great grandson Jason Williams; her caretaker and niece Carol Bennett, niece Irene Montry and nephew Bob Bennett.             The visitation will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with a funeral service 11 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, Inc. 59255 Ten Mile Rd., South Lyon.  Dorothy will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens.  The family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Greater Michigan Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
